Cubic yards don't mean much to most people. Here's a simpler way to think about it: a standard 8-foot pickup truck bed holds about 2.5 cubic yards of material. So:

When to Choose the 15-Yard ($450)

The 15-yard is our most popular rental and works great for: single-room renovations, roofing tear-offs (it's actually the preferred size for residential roofing in our area), garage or basement cleanouts, yard debris and landscaping projects, and small demo work.

When to Choose the 30-Yard ($550)

Go with the 30 for larger projects: full home renovation or cleanout, major additions or demolition, commercial projects, or any job where you genuinely expect to fill more than 6 truck beds of material.

How Much Do Shingles Actually Weigh?

A standard bundle of asphalt shingles weighs about 60–80 lbs. A typical 2,000 sq ft residential roof uses roughly 20–25 squares, which means you're looking at 60–75 bundles — somewhere in the range of 4,000–6,000 lbs of shingles alone.

The 15-Yard Covers It

Our 15-yard dumpster includes 2 tons (4,000 lbs) and holds approximately 6 pickup truck beds of material. For most standard residential roofing jobs in Beaufort County, this is plenty. If your roof is especially large or steep with multiple layers of old shingles, we can talk through whether an upgrade makes sense.

Don't Overpay for Space You Won't Use

The 30-yard is built for major renovation projects and full home cleanouts. Using it for a standard roof tear-off means you're paying for 12 truck beds of capacity when you only need 6. The 15-yard saves you $100 upfront and is easier to place in a typical residential driveway.

We get this question often — and we love it. Keeping usable items out of the landfill is something we genuinely care about. The short answer is: yes, whenever it's possible.

What We Try to Donate

If furniture or household items are in good condition — clean, functional, not broken — we'll do our best to route them to local donation centers and organizations in the Lowcountry rather than sending them to the dump.

What Can't Be Donated

• Items that are broken, heavily stained, or structurally compromised
• Mattresses (most donation centers won't accept them)

If donation is important to you, mention it when you book. We'll do our best to accommodate it. We can't always guarantee every item will be donated — it depends on condition and availability — but we'll make the effort.

A loaded dumpster is heavy — and if it's placed wrong, it can crack concrete or leave permanent marks on your driveway. Here's how to do it right.

Best Surfaces for Dumpster Placement

• Asphalt or concrete driveways — ideal, handles the weight well
• Gravel or packed dirt — works fine for shorter rentals
• Grass or soft ground — possible but can cause rutting, especially in wet weather

Use Boards or Plywood to Protect Concrete

If you're worried about your driveway, placing plywood boards or 2x10 planks under the dumpster legs distributes the weight and reduces the risk of cracking or surface marks — especially on older concrete.

Keep Clearance in Mind

Our delivery truck needs about 60 feet of clearance to safely drop and pick up the dumpster. Overhanging trees, power lines, and parked cars all need to be accounted for. When you book, tell us about your driveway setup and we'll advise on the best drop location.

How We Remove a Hot Tub

Most hot tubs need to be broken down on-site before removal. We cut them into sections using reciprocating saws, which makes it possible to get them out of tight spaces like fenced backyards or screened porches where a full tub could never fit through the gate.
